2016 Rock 'n' Roll St. Louis Half Marathon

October 15-16

======= STILL WORKING ON THIS =====

RnRSTL5kCourse Two Rock 'n' Roll races this weekend, one in Denver, one in St.Louis. Both have Remix races. I went to Denver last year, and only stayed 28 hours, since there was only one race. There was a bonus medal for completing Chicago and St.Louis, and since I already did Chicago, this would be another 5 medal race weekend (like San Jose). I also have never been to St.Louis, so something new and exciting.

Friday Fly

Morning flight on Southwest would get me to St.Louis around 2 pm. Window seat was nice, since I met one of my fellow runners on the same flight who boarded earlier. Seeing the Mississippi river closer up for the first time. I might have seen a bit of it went I went to DC a few years ago, but at a much higher altitude. I met up with one of my Elvis runners, and we took the light rail to downtown. Lunch at The Over/Under Bar & Grill, excellent burger and waffle fries. Off to the Holiday Inn, just a few blocks from the Expo. Then pack my Elvis outfit to change at the Expo.

Expo closed at 7pm. arrived around 5pm. No Toyota Ride 'n' Drive, likely in Denver. Dinner at Sugarfire BBQ. Only 3 miles of walking today.

Saturday 5k

RNRSJCourse5K

Late start at 8 am allowed for the Arch to be clearly visible. Cloudy, so no distinct sunrise sky.

Saturday

Gotta see the Gateway Arch. Huge landmark too hard to miss. Directions painted all over downtown sidewalks leading the way, since building block the view. Touched the Mississippi river water, dirty brown.

Sunday Half

Just minutes before the race start, a bit of moisture (light drizzle) from the sky. Almost put on my sandals, but then it was dry again.

Sunday return

Not much time after the race, headed straight to the hotel to shower and checkout at 11 am. To the airport around noon. With the faster Pre-Check line, able to eat a light brunch at California Pizza Kitchen. before my flight left at 2:30.
